Most all of the items in the auctioned unit was before 1975. Surprises me the consensus is 1980s thus far. Could be though, I was hoping ivory

Well I can imagine why not, I have read to test in a nondescript area of a piece and see if it burns is the best method to see if ivory

If you know what you are looking at, you shouldn't need the pin test.
    We all abhor it.

Very well. The materials are different from piece to piece, I therefore suspect the majority is bone and some is ivory.

Considering all the rules/laws against selling ivory, why are you hoping it IS ivory?

I have high quality Native art...and a few fake Indonesian carved items....

Judge each item on it's own merits.....or you will surely fall prey to...

" It's from a wealthy family who traveled around the world"
"It was found in the estate of a 96 year old woman, so it has to be antique"
" The mans father was a big collector ! "
" I was told by a dealer that it's...........blah blah blah...."

And if you are indeed 23... don't start collecting Ivory as a future investment....unless you can sell it in Asia !

The ones you showed in this thread are all bone, there is absolutely no doubt about it. And I agree with the others, made in India.
If they were ivory you would have great trouble selling them. Even pre-CITES (1947) ivory is very difficult to sell, and these are more recent.

    ...and bought junky souvenirs

The second one is something she got for Christmas five years ago.
The man's father was a collector who bought 1980s postage stamps and Bradford Exchange.
And as for that dealer ... he was a used car dealer.(LOL)
