I found this at a thrift store and thought it was cool! What is it?
Metal art? Sculpture? factory art? (Say no! Say no!)

Any value? (I can't find a signature)

Brilliant, I love it! Things that make people laugh seem to always have a buyer. Not factory art, it’s someone with a welder and some bits of scrap metal.

 

I agree, home made from scrap metal by someone with a sense of humour.
It made me smile.

 

Journey, there are several rather famous 'yard art' artist who make this sort of thing. I remember seeing one in VA and one here in GA. When their works come up at auctions, they bring relative good prices. You might want to see if you have any known in FL or look around for this type of work.

I always wondered what a hoese looked like. Love it. Definitely not glue factory art.

 

As my dad was always up for a bit of kooky lawn art (and my mother was a tolerant woman), I would say you may have a vintage piece that someone made up in their garage or it may be a Mexican import. At some point pieces like this became very popular and home industry became factory art.

I don't know which you have, but the material on yours seem to be better quality than what's being produced today.

Any other "knock knock, mother*bleep*er" fans among us?

Looks a lot like the type of things a dealer in our group shop sells. She gets hers from a wholesaler and the items are made in Mexico. It is certainly possible that this was made by a US artisan but don't discount this being an import.

 

SO THAT'S what a HOESE looks like......have ALWAYS wondered!!!!!!! I'm sorry, Journey, but he's SO ugly, he's absolutely ADORABLE!!!!!!!!! I LOVE him........creative scrap metal work!!!!! AND the red mane really sets him apart from any others!!!!

 

He's definitely got a face only a mother could love! May be related to the horse/mule on the old Hee Haw show!

So I should call it 'Yard Art' when selling?

I’d also agree that it’s wonderful and Mexican. Here’s my guard dog which is definitely made in Mexico. At one time I knew the name of the family that made mine but I’ve forgotten.
