Bought a nice lot of vintage car badges today and in it was this piece. I think it's appropriate to call this a Swiss motor club badge. Would you agree? What era would this have been used?

Thanks for any help you can offer IMG_20190520_220436281-1002x1336.jpg IMG_20190520_220446344-1002x1336.jpg

It's a souvenir car badge from Switerzland but not one associated with a club. And Made in Spain? That's odd (I'd think.)

The Yugoslav one appears to be associated with a car club. Yours clearly says souvenir. Other examples around on internet; you can find them with an image search. Search terms "vintage car badge souvenir Switzerland."

The format is like a travel patch, the one in the link states it’s Military.

older Spanish fake. canton flags partly wrong, partly none-existant. like all the pocket knives with a Swiss Cross. mostly made in the 1950s till Franco's death - family members were part of fake business also with fake rugs a.o..

Interesting, so you believe this to be a knockoff car badge that was meant to imitate Swiss made badges?

there was never such a badge made in Switzerland by anybody. simply made too cheap to be Swiss. typical 1950s to 1960s Spanish crappo. made of two sheets, the front - visible - one interchangable with other ones for other countries. the real ones are heavy cast, some chromed and painted, some enamelled. the two best known are ACS and TCS, both sturdy heavy stuff because in the early days those clubs were and still are insurances included in the club membership as in many other countries; so when an accident happened and the driver couldn't be asked anymore the police knew which insurance had to be informed to clean the mess up.
the same idea still exists in aviation; at the entrance doorframe you have a tag with the details of the A/C in an alloy that can withstand high temperatures.
