First off, it’s hanging in a stairwell about 15’ up so I can’t get any closer than these photos for the time being.
It has a bit of that 80’s “brown brass patina pot metal” look to it but I like the design and the two-tone aspect about it...and it gives off a great light. I’m wondering if it’s indeed a recent(80’s-00’s)department store/designer fixture or something else.
All info and commentary is appreciated as always. Thank You!

Hey, what's wrong with your smoke alarm? :)

The first thing I thought of was Deco as well. I've never seen anything recent or vintage that looks like that, but like Komo said, wdik?

To my eye, it looks late. Heading into Art Moderne.

Circa 1940 drop-in shade chandelier. Likely American in origin. Transitional form from Deco/Moderne to the post-war period with some more traditional elements creeping in to the design. These are fairly sought after and sometimes get lumped in with slip-shade chandeliers on ebay.

Here is the closest comparable I could find in a quick search (Be sure to click on the original listing tag). The black paint on this one is probably not original. Would expect a more subtle contrast.

    Great!
Thanks to everyone for the info and comments. It sounds like I may be borrowing a ladder here soon before the House is sold!

I noticed they’re a little wonky snd the shades seem to fit OUTSIDE the bases which I thought was weird. The person that owned the house was a bit of a picker/saver/cobble-togetherer, I thought they may have been mismatched from the fixture itself...
    That’s a great catch!! Thank you @verybrad !!

The house won’t be on the market for a while....even then it will likely be completely gutted completely anyway!
