If he got to wear the rest of the kit with it, good idea. In hot weather, Indian or African clothing is the best thing going. (unless you can get away with Balinese traditional apparel of course ... but the cops often take a dim view of it here.)

True, but the ladies generally don't get them on the modern clothing.

Greg has some of the best stories on this board.
I like that piece of jewelry with the feather. I could easily wear that to shop at Waldbaums.

When you look at the pre-colonial history of many parts of Asia, you see that there was hardly any real poverty, because of the way communities and the old kingdoms were organized. Poverty was introduced when colonisers started to exploit other nations, used them to earn more money for rich European merchants, upset the traditional agricultural systems and systems of governing.
If you force regions to grow only tea or cotton, ban indigenous people from their centuries old international trade and other means of income, you introduce famine. Which in turn leads to millions going to cities where they have no future.

India is slowly recovering from the depletion by several European powers and trading companies. It has had to work out all over again how to organize a country properly, and make it in the modern world. Sure, mistakes are made, but it is doing so much better now than in the 60s and 70s for instance.

India and some other Asian countries are slowly getting back on their feet. As komo already pointed out there is also much room for improvement in the West.
For example, Pine Ridge Reservation in the US in 2015:
"The average annual income on Pine Ridge Reservation is $3,000, which amounts to a mere $60 a week. Compared to the $10,000 average annual income for those living in poverty in third world countries"

Well Komo, with our divisive society and 'modern' press, no one knows if that is true and no proof was offered. Not a big fan but do not believe much the press says anymore. Everyone seems to shape the news to support their side.

Thanks AJ, interesting insight on the problems. I know that when societies go from agricultural to urban many don't make the change very well. I saw it in the very small farming town where I was raised and colonization certainly ate the resources for their own purposes. Yes, we were not very resourceful and still are not with our indigenous population.

    Yes...in that , you're right.
But to suggest that no one in the press reports the truth anymore....just because some don't....is a very slippery slope that I care not to go down.

"However, the current president has spent twice as many days on the course as Obama did at the same point in his first term, and Trump has cost taxpayers three times as much since he insists on trips to New Jersey and Florida to play at his resorts."

    & yes...some numbers just don't lie.
