Patent 236854 bracelet?

I’ve found examples of this particular style of bracelet and others bearing the “Patent 236854” and no other marks.

When I tried to find the patent itself I found tons of different things but nothing that helped me ID the maker.

The examples I’ve found online have been on Etsy, Ruby Lane and a few others. No one seems to agree what period these came from. I’ve seen from 1880 to 1980’s. I don’t think this is antique, personally it looks vintage to me.

Does anyone have any knowledge on the maker or a company who could have manufactured this?

Disclaimer: Mine is shorter than the examples you’ll see online (purists, look away now) because I had it shortened to fit me by my local jeweler and had the extra links turned into earrings. The patent is just for the clasp. not the design of the bracelet.
Sounds great. Don't worry, jewellery gets converted all the time. It is only a problem when you mess with the famous design of one of the big names in fine jewellery.

Good to know. If I can wear it, I’m out but I’ve encountered people who freak out about altered pieces. *shrug*
