    Hello,
This is my first post here in the forum.
I found these old chairs, they are two armchairs and four chairs and are made in Brazilian Rosewood.
    Its manufacture is Portuguese.
I wonder what style they are, they seem to be Chippendale, however its backrest is different.
Do you think they can be the nineteenth century?
The seller wants € 300 for the six, is it a fair price?
    Thanks in advance!

Yes I would say the style is George III Chippendale with pierced splats and cabriole legs and claw feet.

  3. Davey, you da man!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that's exactly what these are. I wish I could answer the question about whether 300 euros is a fair price, I deal with US Dollars.

do you have a name for the manufacturer ?
although the style may be attractive - and Chippendale always sounds good - Portugal isn't really a reference I'd be looking for.

To convert one to the other, type in the query up top - as in 300 Euros = ?$

    €300 = $331.42 or £212

If they're solid hardwood that's a steal even if they're modern.

Gorgeous chairs ! I don't have a lick of room, but for $331.42 they would be crammed in somewhere ! Didn't I read somewhere that the back feet being carved was a sign of older chairs? Feel free to correct me on that ,the memory can be spotty !

    Hello,
I already bought the chairs and they are really very beautiful.
The brightness of rosewood is wonderful and you can not see from the picture I posted.
The pillows are a bit old and soon as I can I will upholster them with velvet or damask with motifs of the period.
I thank you for your contributions and information that helped me a lot.
Sorry for my bad English, but I think you understood me.
    Regards,

Lovely chairs. Damask would be the most appropriate, in a self pattern. Given they're Georgian style, a clear ice blue would be delightful.

Those would look good even in the proverbial burlap sack.

Am SO glad you bought those chairs!! They are handsome indeed, and at such a good price! Agree with Owned about the blue; gold would work as well.

    Congratulations! :)

As long as the worn out tan goes away, use whatever works in your house. Ice blue would be pretty, but not in a red dining room.(LOL)
