Featured The Lady with the Primroses :)

Hello guys,
I have a Plaster bust of The Lady with the Primroses.
Some say she was Leonardo Da Vinci's lover.
It is IDENTICAL in measurements to the one that is on display in the Metropolitan.

Sharing all the info i found in the last months including articles from when the Metropolitan bought their bust and claimed it was executed in Verrocciho's Workshop in 1475 by Leonardo da Vinci.
It has been REPAINTED and GILT in some areas over a much older paint layer just like the one the Metropolitan bought.

I know it's a long shot but....

The Met? The original appears to be in Florence. And it's carved of marble. Artist is Andrea del Verrocchio. At a guess, I'd think a late 1800s copy. Anything on the base?

Yes you are correct BUT the Metropolitan Museum claims that their plaster bust was cast directly from the Bargello marble. it is written in the 10th of April article i posted.

 

Well, of course, that's possible. Lots of plaster casting was done of original art before the wide spread use of photography. Late 1800s, I'd think.

Too funny... After I wrote that, went to The Met's web site to see what they had to say about work in their collection and... they agreed re date! Not on view and original no longer attributed to da Vinci.

Here's another copy that was put up for auction. Dated to early 1900s. Sold for $477. Oddly (or not,) seller doesn't identify material.

OMG! a few months ago it said "15th Century"and attributed to Verrocchio! they changed it recently.
I'm looking for the screenshot i took at the time but can't find it!
SO....I guess i am not rich after all

 

saw this one but it looked pretty new to me. maybe LATE 1900s...

 

It was always a copy. And appears to have some value as such.

They could have made these casts as Grand Tour souvenirs. Many Grand Tour souvenirs have some value.
