This is my first post and I am hoping I can do this correctly. I bought this nice old pressed glass vase at antique fair last year. It measures 7 inches tall. It is highly reactive to a black light with a bright green glow. It may be Queen Victoria or a Jenny Lind piece? I thought it may be a Derbyshire English piece but I have had no luck authenticating it. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Welcome, Crazy Glass Person. We prefer photos full size. Select Edit & then Options. You can do all at once by clicking full size choice above the list of files. We all love uranium glass & I like your girl. And that's all I know. :)

I am wondering if that is considered Vaseline glass. It may be, but wait for the experts.

Yes....Glass Fool....oui!!~ I would refer to this as vaseline or uranium...I expect it dates to about 1900.

As I imagine you are aware, people have been experiencing difficulties connecting with the site. I would otherwise be very surprised you haven't more replies from our glass savants by now. Isn't 'Vaseline' more a color description than anything fundamentally different about the glass?

Vaseline is a color description as far as I know.

Vaseline is a colour, uranium is a content, in that the element makes glass glow when mixed in to the hot recipe.

I don't recognise this one as British, but hey.

Yes a lot of debate about the definition of Vaseline....the Big Book of Vaseline shows all different colors and shades of yellow/green glass...some even opaque! But the vase is not really about uranium content...only the maker....it has eluded me for a year....I hate to give up on it! :angelic:
