Turned Head Horse Statue

Discussion in 'Art' started by Brandon Loubier, Jun 19, 2019.

  1. I just won a storage unit, and in it was a horse statue. This was a picture from the company who was auctioning off the unit. One pic includes the head, and another picture includes the rump. Can anyone give me any insight and information on this piece. Do you guys think it's worth any money?

    Hi again Brandon!

Once you're here a while, you will see that photos are very important.

Not much can be told from the ones you have provided.

It looks like it is a complete horse, not just the head?

Values could depend on your location.

If this is your first storage unit, I can well image that you are hoping that you "scored". I hope you did too.

We are here to help, but need better photos. As board member Komokwa says, "help us to help you!:cat:"

    Hi Brandon.
Better pictures, if you know what material it is made of, and the size.

We'll wait for you to take your own pictures. Sure you will do better than the auction company.

    Only one picture.
    Not good enough.
    Need front, bottom as well

You also failed to give material - which appears to be ceramic.
You failed to say if it is marked.
You failed to give up size.

If you are really 15 and you hang around here long enough - we'll make you an A student.:)

We almost always want more. ;) @clutteredcloset49 gave you a good list.

A list, btw, which almost no one ever fulfills on the first go around.

  8. Sorry all of them didnt go thru

  9. Sorry that my posts have been so vague. I'm basically a fulltime brick & block labor. I haven't had much time lately, and had to leave during work to pickup my storage from the auction I won. Here are some better pictures, for some reason more than one pictures wouldn't go through. There is a signature on the bottom, and the statue is pretty small compared to my hand. The horse almost feels and looks like its made out of some sort of rock. 20190620_143835_HDR_compress95.jpg

    The material is probably clay.

Can't remember, possibly from South America, also thinking if not S.A. then maybe Africa.
Know I have seen that type of work somewhere.

Really need a picture of the mark.
Take the picture through a magnifying glass if you have one.

    Sorry, no.
    Too out of focus.

Maybe someone else will have better luck than I.
I've been looking, with no result.

Seems to me we had something on the board similar to this a year or more ago.
Not a horse, but another animal.

    I see "Stan"

But click "edit" on your message with the picture and then chose "Full Image" -- others may see it differently.

Thanks! Google did most of the heavy lifting on this one ("clay animal signed stan" isn't the most "elegant" search query, but google brought it home anyway).
