Bev aka thelmasstuff Colored pencil artist extraordinaire ;)

Go to the family Ancestry site and see if any descendants of that name want it! I know family Bibles and photo albums are advertised there. Why not try it.

    Oh.....& one parting thought.
If you sell , please take one plate and write on the back of it in permanent ink, your family name so that in years to come when a new member shows up here with a set of plates that has a family crest , your family crest....it will be a whole hell of a lot easier to track down the lineage !!!:hilarious:

Whether to part with family items or not is a very personal decision. There are so many variables involved that I think it's hard for anyone to know what's going to be right for someone else in this situation.

I've struggled with this myself. We're getting older, we're more than out of space already and would like to downsize to a smaller home, we could use the extra income, and there are no younger folks who would want to inherit what we have. So, I'm about to embark on selling my inherited items.

Much as I'd love to keep almost everything, it simply makes no sense for us, and I'm working hard on not feeling guilty or remorseful about it!

I like Gainsborough! (LOL! I assume "garden variety was a pun. :) )

Of course, I can't see it with pork chops, but breakfast and brunch work...

    20$?! I could scream! I have Spode's cobalt Claridge. $ = OUCH!

Messi - talk about serendipity, happenchance, etc. I just got back from the thrift shop, and GUESS what they had in the china section!

Not as inexpensive as yours, but still, I had to slap my greedy little paws! Four sets of china is enough, Silverthwait! Really! 'Tis!

If the set is too much. Pare it down. Keep the butter dome, 1-2 of the covered casseroles, etc......I think it is really cool. But I wouldn't want to store 6 covered casseroles.

I thought your family crest would look good as a stamp, so I turned it into one:

That blank eyed skull thing is just too spooky for me to see on my dinner plate. I'd pass on the set.

Af - that's what rice is for!

However, that crest is spooky. I thought my grandfather's was odd -- and it is. But not that odd. Do you know the meaning of it?
