We think these are 19thC Continental European figures. One has a crossed tridents mark, the other a blanked out mark. Each base also has 3 impressed dots. Height approx 9.2 inches. We have had no success in identifying the maker, would be glad of any help! The Phillips lot stickers are from an old sale that we haven't been able to trace.

The closest mark I can find to that is possibly "Swansea" porcelain. The mark is from 1814-22 which seems to fit however its usually impressed with "SWANSEA" as well. Very finely made figurines. Due to the crossed blue weapon design I am thinking its meant as an imitation of the Meissen crossed swords.

Well Gordon , the word out there is not Swansea.....& IMO, more like 20th century..

That auction tag has lots of info on it.....I'm surprised it's been of no help.

We've had one porcelain expert opine these were 19thC (and of good quality), which was my initial thought, but I wouldn't rule out early 20th. Agree that these are not Swansea, nor Volksted (another possible we investigated). Yes, I'd agree that these may be pseudo Meissen but those marks have normally been recorded. Sansom was another thought but the marks are not similar.

Tried searching for Phillips auction labels but they were taken over by Bonhams. It is another line of enquiry if all else fails. But if it is that hard for us what are the odds that these were catalogued as Meissen Style Continental Porcelain Figures :banghead:

I think the most significant thing about them is their 'yesterday's antique' status.

Stuff can be hand made by god and it won't sell for much if the fashion is wrong.

Yes, especially when you see some of the prices realized for quality brown furniture and people are paying £££s for self assembly tat :arghh:

But here I just want to find out the maker, any profit has long gone considering the hours spent so far!!!

I'd like to buy another house just to fill it up with unfashionable stuff that I happen to like personally.
