My first reaction was coral, but the more I looked, the more I began to doubt. Try them against your teeth. Coral takes a high polish & can feel very smooth, even to the teeth. If you are not sure, they are not clearly smooth as glass nor grainy as pearls, do the same with something you know is glass & compare.

I think this is glass. I have a few like this with matching earrings.

I've tried them, they feel smooth.. I haven't compared them to a glass necklace (as I will need to look for one), but I will do that..
What made me think of coral is that some of the beads don't have that pink "spot" at all.... if it would be glass, than the pattern of the "spots" would be almost identical.. or not ? I don't know..

It's the way they are not all identical that gives the illusion of natural material & is meant too. I don't know all the tricks of commercial glass makers. It looks as though some, not all, were quickly touched to pink paint before finishing. Even though ones with pink are not identical to each other, they are more alike than natural coral beads would be.

Compare your beads to the ones in the bracelet shown near the middle of the page here:

Coral is primarily calcium carbonate and is relatively soft. Try to scratch (teenie) the back of the main stone with a knife or pin. If it doesn't easily scratch it's probably glass or......

I am not sure, either. The glass makers were quite talented, though, and not everything all the time was uniform...I recently posted a red necklace that had imperfections mimicking real coral, but when tested with lemon, I found it was glass. Do you know the lemon test? You have to be careful, though.

I've tried to scratch it and it didn't scratch almost at all, so it's most probably glass... :(.. but I will try the lemon test too, if you want to tell me what should I do..
    Thank you all !
