I am a barber I own my own shop and a customer gave me an old poster he found at a tag sale. I had a guy look at it at first glance he said 150-200 dollars. The next time he came in for a hair cut he said he's been looking for it for about 2 weeks and says it's one of a kind... He says he could sell it at auction for 1200 dollars. He only looked at the front. I just happened to take it out of the plastic and look at the back it has an address and a 4 digit phone number. Now a 4 digit phone number to my knowledge started in 1905. Do I have something here.. I will upload pic. If not I'll frame it. I can't find this thing any where.

This guy that I showed it to has been looking for it for 2 weeks so I tried everything to find it. But I never flipped it around until today and saw that 4 digit phone number. He placed it in the 1920s-30s range but that number stopped in 1905 I thought

    I didn't find anything either.
It may be that the prefix 2 letters was known and assumed but it's all over the place from 20s to 60s and likely earlier.
Seems it's auction house sniffing time. :)
Posters in particular and barbers if possible.

i don't want to be ripped off by somebody. Maybe it has value maybe not. I'll frame it and hang it up in the shop!

Find some good auction houses and send photos and see. Costs nothing but a little time.
No one can find this so... That may be really good.

It looks 1920s,and the condition isn't the best wich would affect the price. Id say $150,IF your lucky.

One guy's been looking for it for 2 weeks?
what the hell is 2 weeks.....
there are things I've been looking for for 25 years !!!

I notice it's condition is somewhat less than stellar, & talk is cheap....so if you want it's current value , King's on the right path with his suggestion.

    Hi,
Just to let you know my telephone number was OL-63 and that was in the middle 1950s. Your poster looks very 1920s.

    Hi,
Still a newbie here, but Nicholas Lowry of Swann Gallery in New York, NY specializes in posters....he's the "go-to" guy on Antiques Roadshow... "info@swanngalleries.com", or SwannGalleries.com website to check it out.....might be helpful.

Thread reminds me I bought a jasperware barber's bottle 3 years back that I thought might be an unmarked Wedgwood piece. Researched the bas relief classical figures and identified 5 out of 6 that were Wedgwood designs. Then Wedgwood museum said it wasn't of sufficient quality so maker still unknown and sale price peanuts by comparison :(

You could contact the Fall River Historical Society and see if they have any information on the Paris (?) Barber Supply, 481 Hope St. They may have advertisements, etc. that would help you date it.

I'm surprised that no info is coming up in Google for the product, the company name, the address, nor the phone number. Seems very odd.
