preparatory ink sketch landsape

Hi folks

something i bought last year at a boot sale, but have never done anything about

no signatures, and nothing behind or on frame

ink and graphite (smudgey) on watercolour type paper

ive searched chelsea flour mills, but found nothing

might have never made it as a painting

know its a long shot at finding any info, but you never know

any thoughts or info appreciated

i very rarely find out who the artist is

 

Known to paint in the area in a modernist style, is Mike Bernard. While there is some similarity, I don't see a real match. Might also look at Peter Brimelow. A bit closer in style but still a stretch.

 

Good clues Brad ! I've found so many unsigned pieces that I consider 'gems',but what to do ? At least You've got the Chelsea Flour Mill to go on.

 

Aaaah I LOVE sketch work. Sometimes even more than the final piece. They're always so dynamic and there's something very appealing about seeing the work process. This is the one on the Thames?

Mat needs to be changed and that tape removed post haste. UnDu is best for tape removal on art, but be gentle.

ill check out.

 

Used it a lot in framing (in the US). It's surprisingly gentle. We could soak whole prints in it to remove dry mounting adhesive and never stain them. Obviously you have to be more targeted on real media and test as you go. It's not as high tech as expensive restorative methods, but it'll do for the less financially enriched among us.

 

I've never used it, but it has to be one up on most tape solvents.

I don't see the same hand...
one artist likes straight up and down lines and cross hatching....the other an up and down swirl where the pen doesn't leave the paper...
