Hopefully not going to lose money on this since I got it for $20 and the case is 14K w/2 tiny diamonds and watch works, but once home noticed what maybe looks like glue (?) or some kind of leaking oil (??) on close inspection. What do you think this gold colored stuff is around the edges?

Can you open it to see or feel what it is? Try the back, and see if you feel up to going further.

Thanks for taking a look, AJ.

It's under the glass crystal and the and everything is tight as can be. I see a small piece of it appears to have oozed out -- whatever it is has hardened. I'm thinking maybe the crystal fell off and someone glued it with a glue that turned color. The back is engraved with names and a date of 1956, so possibly this was done a while ago.

    Crystal sealer

    Scrap it

The metal exceeds the watch value

Thanks Terry. Crystal sealer would explain it.

Research prices/sold on Ebay & just run it by a watch tech for an opinion.I'd think as scrap it'd be pretty light w/ all the movement, etc removed.
    $20 seemed a prudent gamble.

Thought it was a no brainer when I saw the 14K Biggs Gold mark, and believe it or not you don't really see the sealer at first, however when I started photographing there was no missing it. The watch seems to be in working order.

I'm going to put it up on Ebay AS IS with everything I know with a starting bid of $50. This brand seems to have a following, so we'll see what happens. Maybe some watch person or scrapper will grab it.

Your's may be slightly less. I figure $35/gram. The gold filled in the band is higher than sterling value.

Thank you Terry. That's an excellent comparison, also helpful info on the band.
