Featured Anyone seen one of these? Old(?) cast iron & blown glass lizard lantern w/gyroscopic candle holder

    I found this cast iron/metal (heavy) lizard or iguana with what has to be hand blown glass because it forms little bubbles that fit into each hole on it's back, at a local thrift store.
    The most interesting part is the dish(?) that would hold a candle acts like a gyroscope - no matter how you hold it the candle would stand upright (and it has a clip so it could be mounted like it's climbing a wall)!
    It is 16" long x 8" wide x 4" high
    Has anyone seen one of these? Any idea of it's age?

    The pivoting part would be called a gimbal, often used (usually two for 2 axis') on ships to keep objects upright, but it's hard to imagine (for me anyway) this on a ships wall :)
