Featured Green gemstone id

Hello all

Bought this pretty 9ct necklace, hoping someone can help id the green gemstones in the pendant. Im hoping emerald, but you know...we always hope.

 

They may be green garnets. Colour looks wrong for emerald, even cheap ones.

 

Agree, they could be green garnets. Both the grossular and the tsavorite green garnet varieties can have those dark inclusions.
If they are garnets, tsavorite is most likely, given the shade of green and the fact that so many have been mined in Africa over the last decades.

 

Thanks all. I may take to my jeweller to get a definite answer on these. Actually found the maker and a couple others online. All described as emerald but more than likely not.

Brooks and Bentley do use precious stones, but they're low grade ones, so it's possible they're actual emeralds.

I agree, lower-grade emeralds will have these darker inclusions.

 

Many emeralds have inclusions, but the colour of these are new to me. The emeralds in the other pendants have the usual emerald colour.
Maybe these stones are from a new African mine?

 

Brooks and Bentley are one of those companies who sell jewellery with fancy names at what are, frankly, seriously over the top prices. That was probably three figures retail. I suspect they've just used what they could get at a low cost. (Sorry, ratsy!)

 

I see nothing unusual with the color,the photo was taken in low light and doesn't show the true color of the stones.
