Featured What is it?

    Hiya all,
    Does anyone know what this is? British I am sure but don't know exactly what it is called. Apprx 10" x 6" and definitely has some age.

    It looks like a little purse. One that attaches to a belt.

    I suspect I'm not the only woman who would describe a 10" x 6" purse as "little."

    Try reticule. And also, way older than Victorian. THat date looks right.

    Crudely made. Looks like a little homemade gift from a bought frame. Agree re date. Can't imagine what purpose it would serve if not date of creation. Would make it Regency era but... Doesn't look British to my eye.

    Wonder if it doesn't commemorate a wedding? That would better explain a date, the initials, the gold cord, the heart shape. And sentimental value could explain why it was saved all these years. Here's how it would have been worn.
