Help with signature/thoughts on painting of old Jewish man/rabbi?

I found this yesterday at the thrift - can anyone make out the signature? (R. Rup? R. Ruz?)
It has some age judging by the spacers on the back & the canvas. Also I took photos with my phone - 1 outside & 1 inside; look at the difference in his skin color?

Also found this abstract painting - I believe it's signed Man?
Any thoughts?

Josef Rut. He is known for his paintings of Rabbis and other Jewish subjects.

Yours could be the real deal, given the way it is signed on the half-painted edge.
Either way, it is a very nice subject.

The egg laying lady is sitting pretty - had someone at my estate sale today offer $500 - I politely said no!

 

Go for 2K at least-I've never seen one in a US Mall/Shop.Rare how many show up on the Forum ?

 

I just accepted $1,900 on eBay for it - and it's going to somewhere in Fla. where I am (unless France guy found a freight company- I'll find out when they pay), so not shipping out of country - not even across country!

 

Heck if it's close enough, you could hand deliver it!
