These are either Chinese or Japanese. Any idea what these cups are? Also, any other info would be appreciated! Thank you!

    They are teacups, pretty recent.
The hairstyle of the children is Chinese, but the cups or mark don't look Chinese made. Several East Asian countries are now copying Chinese styles, and I think these could have been made in one of those countries.

It's upside down Japanese. Size determines the purpose--tea or sake.

Upside down? Not sure I follow. ;)

BTW, as a newbie, I was wondering how to change profile name. Not big on my actual name being used as I saw the forum posts are all exposed online.

I don't think you can change your profile name. Others have had the same problem and registered again with a new user (profile) name.

The left character just means pottery or porcelain. I don't see getting much from the mark.

From the few posts I've made to try to ID things, it is very apparent that everyone here is an amateur. I appreciate your help but I think I can get more info by doing my own research or watching Dr. Lori videos. ;)

Is there a way to delete or deactivate my account?

If you decided you don’t want to have your name showing and regret starting the account, that’s one thing. However I don’t see the need to offend people who are trying to help you as being the reason. Maybe @daveydempsey can help to change your i.d., if you choose to stay.

    Hello Kelly.
I think part of the problem is that the three posts you have made are for objects that are very modern. There are countless porcelain factories in Asia churning out new versions of older styles, such as the "Imari" lidded cup you posted. The marks are not really important, and the value of such modern pieces is usually negligible. The folks here are often very knowledgeable about older objects, which is where our interests lie.

Sorry, I didn't mean the term amateur to offend anyone. I'm an amateur as well. Was just hoping this forum could be that place to 'thread the needle' as it were, but I find it seems to be a dated approach.

The art piece I posted was not modern.

As per Dr. Lori V, the marks are important.

Yes, marks on antique items can be important in identification. With modern items, which particular mass production factory made them is less significant.
Sorry, I did not find your post on an art piece.

Lord, stay my hand from pressing keys in such an order that they might be offensive to others , and grant me the wisdom to hold my opinions in check !
    Amen.

    Dear Ms. Palmer:
Either of our Moderators can ban you for life , should that be your wish.
It's a simple matter to ask them to do this should you desire that your name no longer appear here.

I am an amateur when it comes to mass produced recent 'stuff'.
I prefer quality antiques, which is why I joined Antiquers. The name Antiquers says it all, imo.

Maybe you'll have more luck on Ali Baba.

(There, @komokwa , I did it for you, and gladly too)

This is what another member wrote, he posted a true antique:
"Thank you everyone. I am really impressed with all the knowledgeable and fast answers. Greatly appreciated"

Note to self: resist the temptation to be kind to newbies who post last week's junk and try to help them. It will only lead to ingratitude and abuse.:writer:
