I inherited this metal vase but have no idea of its worth - could be a piece of junk - could be a nice surprise - measures approx 10 inch height and is about 400g in weight
has flowers and stripes etched on it

Any advice would be most appreciated :)

I think it's pretty modern, probably from India and has damage so I'd vote no/minimal value. Wouldn't it be nice if someone knows otherwise?

To be frank I don't think a charity would take it as they already have tons of these Indian made brass vases that they can't sell.

This vase has no value, but I would be careful when out there digging to dismiss things that might look somewhat similar. You could miss.
But yes, I could find this many times throughout the course of the year in any thrift shop. Very common piece.
Kind of odd but most of the East Indian pieces I see are modern, and not well made.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    I'll say "Welcome, @yesapleasa " also!

And will just mention that if you're just seeking information it would be a good idea for future items to post them up in the "Antique Forums" (this one maybe in Metalware) instead of the "Marketplace Forums" here. Some people may not look in this Sell forum very often, for example... because this one is usually just used to advertise something for sale, not to ask for information.

    Best wishes you you!
