    Hello,

I am one of your newest members to the forum
I collect original photos from many eras, and have them custom framed to hang in my private collection at home.

I thought I would start by posting this original 1918 print of iconic Canadian born silent film actress Mary Pickford. I buy prints wherever I can find them World-wide, but this one just happened to be just blocks away from where I live. 21F7D18B-5774-4586-8B43-42C57ED46ED7.jpeg

I agree, I really love the early images of her. I have a few others from the early Pickford era I will have to post, including a few from her personal collection & from the Pickford Estate, my Pickford collection is still yet limited, but there’s a few interesting ones.

You need to meet @Figtree3 who also collects theatrical photos from the late 1800's-early1900's.

Thank You. I can’t take credit for the framing, that would go to Alex my custom framer, he has many years experience.

well the black on black of the other one is a little too dark and stark for my taste, but here he excelled !!
This one is pleasing to the eye !!

I framed prints and paintings for 12 years...

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Hi, @Vintage Maven -- and welcome!

Sounds like you are especially interested in Mary Pickford - but other things as well.

My collection started out because of an interest in people wearing costumes of all sorts. So there have been a lot of theatrical people, mostly from the 19th century, and a little from early 20th. I don't have any of Mary Pickford. I do love old movies, though, and have probably seen some of her silents.

My collection has expanded beyond costume photos a bit and now is in several areas. I don't really share much of it here. I'm mostly here to try to help people and also to socialize. :)

I have shared many photos from my collection in Facebook photo collector groups. Even that type of sharing is subsiding for me, although I'm still an admin of a couple of groups! If you are in Facebook but not part of those groups let me know your areas of interest and I can suggest some for you!

Thank You very much, I'm not on Facebook, but do have an Instagram account. My Mary Pickford collection is my most recent, within the last 5 months. It start9with finding the 1916 picture postcard. You're collection sounds most fascinating. I will try to post some variation of my photo collection soon. It is great to meet you, and thank you for the message, I hope to chat with you more.

Thank you, Vintage Maven. I imagine that Instagram has groups, too.

And here in the Ephemera and Photographs section there is a long-running thread for sharing our antique photos. I have posted a few there in the past. Of course, you're welcome to keep this one going, too. Eventually when I'm on the computer (currently am using the phone) I can share a scan of one cabinet photo that I have. It doesn't have Mary Pickford in it but I'm pretty sure that her sister and brother are in it, as children. This was based on some research that I did, maybe 8-10 years ago. If I can't find the scan I will hope to find the photo and scan it again. But not today...

Here is a link to the thread for sharing photos. Antiquers started out as (and still primarily is) a site for people to ask questions in helping to identify their items. That is why the first post in the thread mentions that it is not a thread for asking questions.

I would absolutely love to see the photo you described. And many thanks for your words & information, links etc, that is very kind of you! (I will try to remember to post in the long antique photo thread for future)

Thanks, I just figured out that I don't have a scan of it. So it may take a little while. My printer/scanner broke and there is now a different one set up but I haven't learned to use the scanner part yet. I suppose I could take a picture of the photo but first need to find it.

Meanwhile, while I don't own a copy of this image I did find it on my computer. Thought you might enjoy it!
