Featured Bookends?

    hi all, I'm sure these aren't antiquesure, but any idea of age and are they japenese?

    They look art deco and they also look like someone gussied them up at some point.I wonder if they could be gilded bronze under there? Can you show the bottoms ?

    Sure can.. Local Church had a sale today.. I got a few really really nice stuff today.. So excited..

    Tricia, they don't look the same to me, but I imagine it's possible that yours pays homage to the Gerdago one.

    They are very different in execution. Your bookends are cute, but not cold painted bronze and no handcarved ivory face. Yours are 'after' the Gerdago girl.

    Gerdago (Gerda Irro-Gottstein or Gottschlich, also Gerda Iro) was a costume designer.
    Maybe the original is not by Gerdago, but the girl is wearing one of her early designs, probably for a cabaret theatre production. In which case the signature could be the name of the piece.

    I don't know if the Sissi-films with Romy Schneider as Elisabeth of Austria (and Hungary) were ever shown in the US, Gerdago designed the costumes for those:
