    Some of Bertha’s postcards:

    Edit:
On the internet, I found the same Ambassador Bridge image used on a 1955 postcard (postmarked 1955). However, note in the lower left corner it now states Windsor, Ontario when my 1933 card states Sandwich, Ontario. In 1935, Sandwich was amalgamated with East Windsor, Windsor, and Walkerville to form the city of Windsor, Ontario.

A searchable online collection of postcards, from the Newberry Library in Chicago -- The Leonard A. Lauder Collection of Raphael Tuck & Sons / Oilette Postcards:

The Newberry Library just posted a link on Facebook and I thought some people here would be interested.

Went to a yard sale today and amazingly they had some postcards. Got the lot for $3. Mostly nothing to write home about but I found a few cards I liked so it was well worth the price.

Here's a linen postcard in my collection... Michigan Avenue in Chicago, with the lions that are in front of the Art Institute.

I thought this Ceylon postcard looked very colonial:

This one is an actual etching of Goethe's house in Frankfurt.

It's use as a postcard seems to be something of an afterthought.

This view of Holyrood Palace is by Judges Postcards. The photo was taken by the company's founder who built the (ongoing) business from a hobby. I think he had a pretty good eye. zb England Judges Ltd Holyrood Palace Arthurs Seat 1774 Sepia -a.jpg

This one of Williams Park in St Petersburg, Florida, struck me as very painterly:

Went to an auction that had a ton of cards in flats but they weren't quality and sold for outrageous money for what they were. Above are a few of the cards I got at the show …….

@Joe2007 - I thought you might be interested to know that your last card shows that boat cruising past the Acme coal fire plant which was on the east side of the Maumeee River. The plant was closed down years ago & the smoke stacks imploded back in 2014.:happy::happy:

Joe, I posted a PC on the Rants & Raves thread a couple of days ago. (Didn't want it here on the more "public" forum...) I thought of you when I posted it. You might want to take a peek over there.

Do you have any suggestions for collecting Halloween cards? I assume the spookier the better and quality of graphics help too.

that is a tough one @Joe2007 :) I assume they will be for your own collection, so collect the ones you like. Any devils are always hot, ones with multiple Halloween figures (witch, bat, pumpkin, ghost, etc.) certain artist/company are worth more, the vegetable figures halloween ones, the list is never-ending. Warning - once you go down the slippery slope of Halloween postcards you end up looking at Christmas postcards too - Santa in different coloured coats/robe are always worth money, a purple coat/robe is still #1, then dark blue. Who am I kidding, I love them all:) Good luck, can't wait to see what you find!!
