help with carved wood figure

anyone have any info on this little 4 inch figure

was wondering its origins, age etc

i thought he was at a piano at first, so i call him elton

any thought appreciated

Yes, a gamelan musician made in Bali. He was once part of an orchestra set.
Given the height of the instrument, I think it is meant to be a gendèr, with tubular resonators underneath the xylophone-like slats.
My guess for the age is 1930s-40s.
