Hello everyone! I've not posted in some while but still enjoy lurking here very much.
This is a set that I acquired a year or so ago. I can't seem to find out anything on the printed (on top of the glaze) globe mark. On some pieces, it covers the underglaze printed green CFH. Googling tells me the CFH and the underlined CFH marks date to the 1870s (some of the plates have the underlined mark). Unfortunately, I suspect there must have originally been 8 sets. There are four different putti, two of one type, two of another type, and one each of two more designs. They are hand-painted.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks so much!

Hi bluumz - I'm afraid all I can offer is speculation or information you already know. Charles Field Haviland company produced the white ware but the decoration was most likely by another studio that added the globe mark. According to my book (Gaston) CFH produced transferware decorated pieces but not hand painted pieces. These decorating companies are not well documented. It could even be an exporter's mark. I haven't come across that globe mark before. The CFH mark dates 1868-1881. Slight differences in the CFH mark would not be unusual. I think you're right that there were originally eight cups and quite possibly a tea, chocolate, and/or coffee pot. It may very well be a unique set so treasure the pieces you have. It's unlikely other pieces could be found. I can imagine the set being produced for export to a fine jewelry store in the states. It is quite a lovely set!

If you go farther back in the pages of Gaston's book, you will find this. Apparently, this is some type of decorating company that used Haviland white ware. Hope this helps a little. Your cups/saucers are gorgeous! (sorry for the big file)

If you click on the photo, it becomes giant but easier to read.

Things like that are frequently thematic. Could they represent the four seasons?

Excellent notion, but looking at the pretty flowers in full bloom on all four designs, it doesn't seem likely.

Resurrecting this thread as I am the OP and I'm considering whether to split these up for sale or sell as a set. Also, auction or find a nice BIN price? Opinions, please and thanks!

My opinion only: I'd sell individually, I think there are a lot of cup & saucer collectors who buy singles.

I've enjoyed them long enough, it's time for them to go. :)
