Can someone tell me where this deckchair comes from?

Hello everybody!

We just cleared my grandpa's house and found this piece in his garage...
Could you tell me where this comes from and when was it made?

Not sure I'd call it that. Those rolled corners on the legs would not do well on a deck.
Chaise lounge maybe.
I'd say 60s - 70s.
Very nice though!!!
Could be a designer ahead of the curve in the 50s.

 

I suspect MiBo means the stationary kind of deck in your backyard. But if I'm wrong and he meant "ship deck," then your comments about the legs are spot on, King.

Very interesting mechanism for the leg-rest and what appears to be very good condition for being (apparently) a piece of outdoor furniture. I had a set of chrome frame kitchen chairs (with matching table) that I bought at Bloomingdale's in the 80's. They had the same little black plastic pieces (sliders?) on the bottoms of the legs. That's all I've got.

 

All I know is that I covet it. heh heh heh

MiBo, have you checked carefully for any tags/marks? Including underneath?

 

Since I was in the USN I naturally went to ships for that description.

 

And it's what I assumed from the thread title, as well. But the pictures said otherwise.

 

That's not an outdoor piece,and Id research it carefully. It could be a "name". This particular style is hot right now. I assume that's leather ?

 

If that's leather ....it's wonderful....if not...then mildly wonderful !!

 

Well, it's not from the Titanic. I would say 70s - 80s lounge chair. Agree that if this is leather you might have something. Maybe Italian. In vinyl, not so much.

Not necessarily so, note what the seller says:

"...leather vinyl Folding Lounge..."

They aren't sure of the material. Using both leather and vinyl, they are covering their..... b--- ... hmmmm all angles. The chairs are not identical in the upholstery on the back.
