    It's got a lion mark, so probably gold-plated sterling.

    We date differently in U.K., this was bought on 9 th November 1976.
    I agree it reads as that awful date though.

    Yes it is, there’s a faint anchor mark for Birmingham and the maker S Ld was only in business from 1972-74. Ring clasp has a 925 on it.

    Heh. Not a typo, but a silly way of conflating Primark with Armani. ;)

    Thirty five quid was a lot of dosh in 1976: about a week's wage or more for me.

    Oh, of course. Most of the world writes dates in logical order of day, month, year. I knew that but didn't at the moment factor in the English origin. Thanks, now it's not sad at all. :)

    My thrift find for today, an Eliot Candee Clark painting. Somewhere on Cape Cod I believe, with a Hyannis framers label, $3.99+. A bit grimy but I’m not complaining.
