Featured Could you please help me with brooch

Hi..asking for your help again. Wondering about age but even more about material . The main pieces are cold to touch but appear to have ? Striations on the bottom flat side. No marks either the exception of the block CHINA .. .which confused me! 1.5 inches in width

 

Maybe carved rose quartz?

 

Thank you Bronwen..it does look and feel like that. Any idea as to age..the China mark surprised me!

 

The clasp type suggests mid-20th century, but there may be other ideas.

 

I think earlier, 1930s - that's an earlier version of a roll over and the mark suggests that timing, too. Style is between the wars as well and China wasn't really exporting stuff like that in the 50s and 60s. Could be rose quartz but perhaps pink jade is more likely.

This particular China mark is seen on earlier Chinese Export Jewellery starting ca 1910. The narrow safety clasp was already around in the 1930s.
Chinese Export Jewellery is collectible, and this has enough of an Art Deco look to appeal to AD collectors too.

 

Could be either, but I think rosequartz, which is also very much a Chinese stone. Both are gorgeous stones.
