I have been collecting tea sets for my Daughters wedding tea party reception.
I bought this beautiful Royal Albert tea set today in perfect condition from a charity shop.
Can anyone tell me if it is worth much please?
I thought maybe I could sell it and buy more cheaper tea sets with the profit.

    Thanks ...

Picture files can be no larger than 1mg. Do you know how to compress your files? If not, you can try something I've been known to do from time to time.

I create a new email message and attach the photo files to the email. When the photos are attached, the email app compresses them. Then I just move the .jpg files from the email msg to my desktop and attach them to the thread here. Delete the email without sending.

1 MB (Megabyte) (not mg which would be milligram. )

Think other members have recommended the same procedure, except send them to yourself as e-mail attachments then open the e-mail from your computer, etc...

Welcome, Samantha. By 'tea set', do you mean tea cups & matching saucers? Or is every attendee getting a complete set, pot & all? Will have to be patient until photos arrive. :)

Are you a nurse in real life, Pam? ;)

No, not even close. Fear of bodily fluids, I think. But, I admire nurses very much for all they do. I am old, so just had a Sr. moment.

    You know you're old when:

    • You have more occasion to type mg than MB.

There's a lot of Royal Albert out there. Check sold listings on ebay for prices by clicking the Sold button on the left when you do a search.

OMG! You have one of the Royal Albert Imari patterns (there are several). IMHO, close to the best, but all might not agree. And this set is older, maybe 1930-40s.

You can look here to find it http://www.royalalbertpatterns.com/index.htm but it won't be easy because you have to know the name of the pattern in order to search for it. Also, look under Marks to date it. I just did a deep dive on the Imari patterns for some that I found. Some have names, some have numbers, and some are unidentified. It was rough. I wrote down a few names, but can't currently find them. (my husband "cleaned" the top of the desk, if only he would clean the bathroom!). I remember Derby, Devon, Heritage and #6550. I think most collectors don't really care if all of their Imari matches, because a lot of it basically looks the same.

If I were a bridesmaid, I would love to receive the Royal Albert. But you could see how much it brings and likely it will allow you to buy of the other types of china. However, since it's so old, it could take awhile and I don't know how much time you have. Personally, I'd keep it as part of your "finds".

Looking at the Imari again, with 6 trios, 2 cake plates and a bowl. If it were mine to sell on ebay, I would expect to get at least $150 for it??? That's estimating $20 each for the cake plates and $15 each for the trios. Also, I would sell it as a set because it is a set and more valuable altogether. Any opinions please on my estimate, too high, too low? I don't always trust myself when I really, really, really like something.
