Makanudo There is no such thing as simple.Simple is hard.

Its a beautifull glass ashtray with burgundy tones.
    It is 12x12cm.
I would apreciate hints on type of glass and age. SAM_0904.JPG SAM_0907.JPG SAM_0909.JPG

    Could it be Murano glass?

Well, nobody's reacting so it feels more like a blog, which I do not enjoy so much.
Its just that I am excited about finding stuff right know and have trouble to refrain from sharing it:playful:

    Just the way it is.

HI, mak. I'm sure we have spoken before. Your ashtray is an odd, unusual and a nice color. I don't remember seeing that before. Unfortunate is the fact that it is exceptionally difficult to put in any particular category. Murano? Could be, but I doubt it. And that's a guess. Type of glass? Heavy. Age? Probably mid 1900s when that type was prolific. Other than that I really have nothing to go on. I don't believe there are any books on ashtrays and I know I could/would go blind watching images of heavy burgundy, maroon, dark red/cerise,crimson,claret,erubescent,ruddy ashtrays.
Do you have any other hints at all to help?

Yes. we have spoken about slag glass few days ago.
Please have patience with me as I ask questions whilst browsing different sources in order to gather information that could help me to differentiate between glass styles and periods.
Unfortunately I am not doing too well with this, as I find out, the more I read, that estimation is very very layered process.

Point being, it is more important for me to hear the way you are thinking when you look at an object then to pin point something for me.

Ah, yes. The slag glass. I hope you got something on that.
I'm just taking a break and rushing through the sites on the upper right of the screen. Scribbling notes as I go
. Click on "Can't read siggie on dish."

OOPS, almost missed the gist of this. to hear the way you are thinking when you look at an object then to pin point something for me.

Be careful with that, please. I'm a bit more sensitive to psychic vibes than others.
Anyone and everyone can and does do that all the time. It just somehow sticks with me.

I dont know how it sounded, but I meant that I would like to know what to look for first when I look at the object made of glass and how to determine the way it is made and after that its era etc.

No problem, Mak. Likely a slight translation error. It confused me.

I see you changed your avatar. Is that a duck?

    Very nice duck.
Please don't think any apology is needed.
And please don't compare your skill in English to my skill in any version of Serbian. I
am a thousand kilometers behind you on foreign languages.
