Who thinks about the place of manufacture of this watch and the age of the mechanism? The mechanism is working, but not tuned (the clock is rather fast).I cannot understand the meaning of the musical mechanism. It is not related to the main clock mechanism. Plays only when you turn the key by hand. What is musical mechanism for?The body is made of wood. The hull appears to have been restored.Apparently, it fell apart, carved parts were glued together (judging by the cracks). The hull has also been repainted.Jesus figurine is made of porcelain. No inscriptions were found on the mechanism. 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg 7.jpg

It is more the kind of thing you put in the centre of a mantlepiece rather than on a table.
Sounds like the mechanism needs to be cleaned.

When was the clock made? Is this 19th century?

I would bet money that is a married piece. That crucifix is way out of proportion and not something you'd ever see on a mantle clock. You can also tell by the modern looking wooden structure on the back. The clock maker's name might be on the back of the clock face. Looks early 20th century to me. I have a number of mantle clocks and they are about that age.

Thank you! That is, it was made to order for someone's wedding in the early 20th century, if I understood correctly?

By 'married' Bev means that two unrelated items were made into one. So two items were 'married', so to speak.

What are two things? Is the watch case old or just the mechanism old? Or was a cross attached to the old building?

It wasn't my opinion, but Bev's. I think she meant that the cross is not original to the clock, but that is just guessing on my part. Only Bev knows.

I think it was made as one piece.
Always good to know at what time you need to go to church, especially for people who went several times a day, and lived too far from church to hear the bells.
