Nice find, never heard of them before. Very cool looking. Looks good honest wear/age on the denim.

What are they like Japanese chore /work wear ?

The unmarked ones (at least denim i think) were prob work/chore wear. This one was prob worn in a parade or festival (30's-50's ?).
PS-This one actually fits me (5'10" 180 Lbs),must have been an X-Lg for a Japanese ! Might just keep it to drink my Matcha in (or smoke my new non-tobacco pipe).

It's actually very soft, almost silky, the way much used denim jeans get.A fairly thick weight cloth.

All I want is to see that magnificent monstrosity on your head...or at dead minimum in a great deal more detail an' better light. I'll wait right here...

Double-dang !...course i could show the helmet pic to my wife & beg.'Honey, this lovely horned skull would harmonize beautifully w/ our MCM Japanese furniture, and how about this fetching Conan Axe ?'.

  13. Hi @bosko69 - I think you're right, it looks like it may be a work coat and on the lapels appears to read: 熊谷建設 / Kumagai Construction

(I'm not sure what the graphics on the back / interior translate to, was only able to auto-translate the lapels)

There is a large Japanese construction company by that name, maybe one of their vintage coats?

Japanese "Hapi Coat" translates into American English as "Sweaty Tee Shirt"!

    Thanks amigo !
I was working stiff for a fair amount of years-but i wonder what it would've been like to be a 'rice polisher' for 30-40 years !
I'll have to Wiki 'Happi Coats' & see how far back various iterations of this garment goes. It's extremely silky soft indigo denim-like old jeans, mighty comfy.
