Asian translation for carvings

Im trying to get these 2 carvings translated for a friend. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

Yes, i couldnt believe how many reproductions there are of this particular carving. Couldnt tell which side was up or down on the stamp so i took the photo both ways

The look of Schreger lines seems off to me, too continuous, too perfectly parallel.

 

Depends on the ivory. Some lines are like a perfect spirograph. I tested it with a hot needle and it checked out.

 

They look OK to me. They are best shown on a flat cross section of the tusk, which is what we have here.

What result did you get that was diagnostic of ivory?

 

Kinda looks like an archaic script. But that's all I got!

 

That's what I thought. A relatively late one though, it has similarities with present day script. Not that I know much about Chinese historic scripts.
Older script forms are still used in some Chinese art.
