A few more photos would be helpful. One of the entire back and clasp, and approximate size of the piece.

Almost wonder if it is one of those museum replicas of something. It is unusual to have a date printed on jewelry.

I don't think 1928 jewelry signed with other words like this has (but not an expert in the 1928 line, so might be something to check.)

Also be sure to click on "full image".

Hard to know what is what without having it in the hand. Is the metal definitely brass?

Neither Art Nouveau nor Art Deco, and doubt its manufacture dates as early as either design era - would also suspect a cast brass museum reproduction of some kind, might be a Book of Kells thing, but doesn't look quite right, perhaps based on something found in an unearthed hoard (Celtic, Anglo-Saxon, Viking)...

Here's another of the same design, no useful information: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-double-fish-celtic-design-1810392372

Agree it's a museum replica style design. I'm thinking entwined eels rather than fishies.

Agree with some sort of replica. They remind me of catfish, with those 'whiskers'.

Thirded or fourthed. This came from a museum shop. It's not from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York or the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, but could have been sold anywhere else. Those two have jewelry made specifically for them and it's all marked.

Hmm, just also noticed the patterning on the back of the OP's pin is slightly different from the one in the listing and the loops for the pendant look somewhat different.

Seems like more than one company sold this brooch unless the maker modified the design.
