    Good Morning! I need your help with any kind of information regarding the age, origin and markings on this piece. I have searched and found something that looks a bit like it, but it was French. I have also searched for the markings and no luck. Google Image Search is not helpful at all. Thank you for your help and your expert opinion is sincerely appreciated.

    It's a beautiful pot. The signature looks like Russian or other using Cyrillic alphabet.

    @IvaPan do you know?

    Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    It is a Ukrainian artist's name, M. Малюца Янюк. I found a newspaper page from a Ukrainian-language paper from 1979.

    There is a M. Малюца Янюк whose name is included in a caption of a group photo near the bottom left column of the first page here. From trying to read the headline of that article I think it is related to a Ukrainian festival in New Jersey, USA.

    https://www.svoboda-news.com/arxiv/pdf/1979/Svoboda-1979-091.pdf

    Haven't determined more than that, yet. I don't read Ukrainian as well as I can sometimes read Russian.

    I am sorry for being absent for so long :( but Figtree3 solved the mystery quickly, well done, Fig! :kiss:

    Yes, everything is right, she apparently was an emigrant Ukrainian artist living in USA, her hame was Motrya (or Motrja) Malyutsa-Yaniuk, and she was a member of the Committee for organising 5th Ukrainian Art Festival in New Jersey who's members had a meeting with the editors of Svoboda (Freedom) Newspaper on 18 April, and the festival was scheduled to start on 2 June of the same year (1979). The lady is shown on the photo Fig referred to, sitting at the left with her 4-year old daughter.

    Apparently the Ukrainian emigrants in USA issued a daily newspaper in Ukrainian, the slogan of the newspaper (shown at the upper left corner on page 1) was "Remember Ukraine!" There is also reference to her as one of the organisers of 10th Ukrainian festival, in the same newspaper of 24 March 1984.

    There is another reference about this woman, from 1978, referred as Motrya Yaniuk, a member of the Union of American-Ukrainian Women, here
    https://diasporiana.org.ua/wp-content/uploads/books/6790/file.pdf

    I guess Malyutsa is her maiden name and Yaniuk is her husband's family she added after marriage, as they are spelt with "-". There is Ivan Malyutsa (nationalist and fighter for independent Ukraine, died in the German Army at Stalingrad) and Antin Malyutsa, famous Ukrainian painter and artist, who was forced to emigrate in USA after WWII and died in New York, he was very active member of the Ukrainian emigre society in USA. They were brothers, also the third brother, Stepan Malyutsa, was a famous Ukrainian musician. I suspect that Motrya had family ties with them, especially with Antin

    I guess the pottery can be dated around these years, and it is made by this Ukrainian artist.

    @ezeepass , I found out that this style of pottery is decorated in a Ukrainian style that is called Trypillian, based on the Trypillian neolithic culture that was in that part of the world.

    Here is a page depicting Ukrainian pysanky or Easter eggs decorated in that style.

    Here is a Wikipedia article about the culture itself.

    Here is an entry from Worthopedia with pottery that is similarly decorated, but signed by a different artist.

    Thanks, but right now I can't think of a way to help with that one. I did comment on the thread just now, to send it higher up in the forum.
