    Welcome, Correen!

The best way to get the right eyes on your chair is to post your query in the Furniture section of the Forum. It would probably also be a good idea to have more pictures - showing construction details in particular - when asking about things like this.

Is it painted? Are there any parts underneath where the wood grain is visible?

    Welcome! :)
The splats look like two people looking away from each other to me.
More photos will help others. No labels or stamps underneath?
I'd guess turn of the century into the 20s maybe.
It looks stout for another 100 years. :)

Correen - your chairs are from about the 1930's - a somewhat odd amalgamation of Art Deco and Baroque Revival styles. They obviously have been painted but are likely made of a pine or light colored fruit wood. While I have seen may sets of Deco and Baroque Revival chairs of this form before I have never encountered the juxtaposition of a Deco back and Baroque Revival leg before.

I believe that your chair is Hard Maple and had a matching table to go with it. At Auction, your chair would only bring $5.00.

Where would they start the bidding..........A Quarter ?:hilarious::hilarious:
