    factory painting............

havent listed it in the art section because that doesnt sit right

see the price though, so dont judge me too harshly :playful:

"now did he buy the painting thinking its wasnt a factory piece ?"

    i was about 98% sure

but the frame looked good for that. Its a composite wood, and probably will come in useful for something

delving behind the label, you can see how not old the frame is

interesting discussion though, would anyone have bought it for £5 knowing it was a factory piece

would anyone have bought it for £5 not realising its a factory piece

    any thoughts welcome

i havent zoomed in too close, or added contrast as i didnt want anyones breakfast coming back up ;):playful:

    I have seen worse though.:joyful:
I have too little space as it is, and don't want to ship cumbersome pieces. So even if it would sell the next day, the answer is no.

Better than most. But there's an old tyme-y Thomas Kinkade quality to that that's really annoying. Just IMHO, of course.

i can definitely see that in the way the trees are painted and composition

i bet its been scrutinized before though, theres a little label in top corner questioning - Poss FE

the back framers label is a known fake one though (should have mentioned that)

    I have this factory painting:
    00000aaaa.jpg

I knew it was a factory painting before buying it. The guy I bought it from told me it was a factory painting. I like it. I make no apologies for it. I didn't care then, I don't care now. I still like it. I think that's the principle criteria.

Factory paintings aren't necessarily garbage, they just generally don't have much resale value. And there are plenty of autograph artists whose personal style is very much factory.

ive always quite liked those bird type ones as well, got a charm of their own, and always painted quite well

Yep, seems very cheap too, can't but the frame for that in a shop. I bought a couple of factory seascapes a while back for one of the bathrooms, they were remarkably good and ridiculously cheap. In 100 years they are going to be a collecting field in their own right, and working out factory/painters is going to be interesting!

If one substitutes "decorative painting" for "factory painting," their purpose becomes more clear. Of the "hang & enjoy" school.

I occasionally buy factory paintings if I think I can re-sell or have use for the frame. Afraid I would have passed on this one. Sorry.... I like neither the painting or the frame. Neither are that bad but just not my taste. Here is the last 2 factory painting I bought. I liked both but they were also quite inexpensive.

This actually has a designer name to go with and was offered in a limited edition. Huge at 48" square.

Just thought this so well done. Loose interpretation of Bierstadt's, "Valley of the Yosemite". Good size as well, at 20" x 24".

As I age I find my taste in art is ever changing. In the day,Id have been all over this painting . But now I find Im more into abstract, modern, etc. Im more drawn to paintings like Brad's tree. That being said,I bet you 100 years from now factory paintings will be looked at much differently. Especially some of the Chinese ones. Some of those folks are very talented. Deb hit the nail on the head, hang and enjoy if it suits you .

I really like it. It's very pretty. Reminds me of wedgwood magic fairyland. I would have shouted it out as a factory piece straight away. The frame smacks of it. However, I would have struggled to resist buying it due the inner voice that makes me but things just because I like them. 'Go on. Buy it. You want it!'. All reason of the practicalities of selling it on and time sitting on it go out the window.

Sorry. I got confused. I thought Deb's image was a close up of your painting. I love Thomas Kinkade :bag:

I would have bought at that price - it looks like it's a Chinese import. Back in the '90s, (19, not 18) a local auction house seemed to be flooded with them. I bought one then for $35, because I liked it - it's a pretty little landscape that I still enjoy looking at. Whoever did it had some talent. Same kind of frame. I don't lump those Chinese imports with factory paintings, but I couldn't tell you why.

I can sort of see the "Kincaid" thing, but not enough to bother me.

I didn't buy mine to sell, but rather to hand and enjoy it. I like yours, it's nice. It might be fun to start an I own a "factory-painting" confession thread for everyone to share.
