Is this silverplate? bowl Arab? Do not know metal nonmagnetic.

I bought this as usual at thrift store. It is not attracted to a magnet and heavyish. It smells like silver on the outside but the inside does not and the inside has a coating of some sort I think. It measures 7 1/2 inches in diameter by 3 1/2 inches tall. Any ideas of country, use, possible metal? I used to be able to use the acid to tell but not so much anymore. I rubbed it on a stone the kit comes with and I "if" I see the color right, it looks greenish, which says 50% silver. I just do not see the colors that well but do not feel it is sterling. I've looked carefully for any marking and see none. Thank you.

It could be Malay.

 

Perhaps an "urli/uruli" bowl, from south India, similar to this modern version -

Your bowl may be made of an alloy similar to "German silver" - an alloy of copper, zinc and nickel (no silver included) - which may explain the inconclusive test.
