Hello, Does anyone know anything about these two sets of earrings? ...selling, but do not know how to describe. There are no markings that I can see. They were obtained from my husband's uncle.

Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.

    Welcome, CSMartin.
Just a question, do the amber dangles feel warm or cold to the touch?

These two pairs look newer (post 1970s) unless the earwires have been replaced.

For the first pair, if amber (we will need an answer to AJ's question to help with that part) the loops that connect the amber colored drops are somewhat basic looking, I don't think these were terribly expense when new, but do have kind of a nice look. Maybe use "tribal" in the description?

For the 2nd pair are they metal or some kind of plastic?

I wouldn't do that, it really annoys collectors of tribal and ethnic jewellery (including me :sorry:). You have no idea how many pages of non-tribal jewellery they have to sift through to get to the real stuff. Needlessly time-consuming and very frustrating.

They feel somewhat cool to the touch, but no where near as cool as the metal, then quickly warm up. It is cold in the house this morning, not sure that makes any difference.

    Thanks for all your help.

First pair, re: reply to AJs question. The earwires are pretty pristine and look to be replacements. The hoops on droplets have an aged look oxidation?) - weight: 17.4 & 17.2 grams ea.

2nd ones are all metal and slightly magnetic - meaning that they will gravitate toward my earth magnet, but will not stick to or be picked up by it, neither do the earwires. - weight: 10.6 & 11.0 grams ea.

Do you have a UV flashlight? If you shine that on the amber coloured beads and they fluoresce, they could be genuine amber.

Should it be in a dark space? I will check that out and get an image..

Darkish is good. I usually hold it under my desk, the is dark enough to see.

I did a vinegar test, I found online, on the 2nd pair and it did not discolor or damage it. Does this really work to check for gold content and if so, how long should it take to discolor other metals? I left it in contact for around 15 mins.

Anything plated with gold or rhodium will not change/discolor,it's a bad test.

Thanks, they are not amber. So most likely some kind of plastic. This is one for the costume 'joolies', which I am not. But I suspect they are home made.
