I went to see the movie last night - FABULOUS! Of course the clothes were gorgeous, but the jewelry... But the best was Lady Mary's necklace in the Ball scenes, the front was great, but look at the back... I just has to post
We went a few days ago, loved it! The audience all clapped at the end of the movie! It's because of y'all, that I began to watch DA as a tv show, thanks!
Wait until you see the one Lady Edith has - it's stellar. Being a marchioness has its perks. Saw it last night, at a late showing with very few other people after a sold out earlier show.
You mean the one with the diamonds set in the shape of flowers? It's a beauty! I think she may be wearing it in the 1st photo I posted but it's too small to be sure!
It wasn't until I was headed home that I realized why Lady Bagshaw seemed familiar. In real life she is married to Mr. Carson.
My brother gave me a gift of the DVD set of the tv show, but I haven't watched it yet. I saw most of the episodes from midway through season 3 on - how many seasons were shown on tv?
Also, I don't know if it's because of the English accents or what, but I just didn't remember Mr. Carson's retirement at the end of the tv show season? All I could remember was the beach party for the entire staff and that in the water, Mr. Carson took the hand of his future wife!
That was more than one season before the end of the TV series, if I recall correctly. 'Twas memorable. though. I'm going to see the movie tomorrow. The theater has scheduled a showing at 10AM.
They were marathon running the whole shebang last week on PBS here. I watched a few shows, wasn't into it, but I do want to see the movie. I prefer Victoria.
Nope, Mrs. Bates had discovered she was preggers. Now I think the end of the series wasn't even shown in New Orleans. Yet that sounds ridiculous - how could that be? Apparently I just missed it? Some things in the movie - I had no idea why they were presented that way, but make more sense knowing I missed the entire last season! Example - I didn't understand how Lady Mary got with that guy.. Grateful to have the series set and will watch it this winter! Thanks all!
My daughter & I saw the movie on Tuesday. Pure fluff, of course, albeit a visual delight! Even with the required, willing suspension of disbelief (and, yes, MUCH of that was needed!) I still was particularly bothered by two things: 1) that French chef... All I could think of was the cartoon Ratatouille - every single time he was on the screen! 2) Molesley's extreme overreactions to everything - I thought him simply toooooo over-the-top!
Saw it this morning. Unfortunately what I didn't know about the 10AM showing was that this theater does the same thing every Friday with a different movie for "Mommie Matinee" - Young mothers as babies. They left the lights on (although low) which meant the dark scenes - like the beginning in the train terminal - were awfully hard to see. And the sound was not as loud as it should have been and as a result, there are things I really did not understand. And there were babies! There were also a smattering of older folks like me, but the Mommies all took seats on the right and the rest of the audience stayed to the left and closer to the screen. I may go back again on Tuesday when "seniors" only pay $8 regardless of the showing. I must agree with SBSVC about the chef and Mr. Molesley. @antidiem - I kept wondering when Tolbert would show up. The actor must have had some other jobs - I doubt that he had to be on set more than 2 days! You really should try to see the last season, there's more you don't know.
