So what is this please?

Hi all,so probably at the risk of sounding dumb But what is this little interesting piece (4,5cm long and 3cm wide) Before I picked it up I thought it is a piece of a warthog tusk. But boar tusks are hollow right? Bone should show more pores? So this is a piece of rock? I wouldn’t have thought it a rock. Thanks for any comments

Looked at some other images. Looks very similar. I wasn’t remotely close to initially searching ‘bison tooth fossils’

 

It is probably a fossil of one of the African animals, given your location. Maybe a South African museum has something similar on their site.

 

Reminds me of a horse tooth? Obviously came from some type of herbivore.

Right you are. Thank you for the reply. I know nothing about horse teeth,but it also looks very similar. So definitely some herbivore. Wonder how old it is (just for interest sake)
