Featured Chinese Ox Blood Cabinet

This is something my parents picked up a little more than 60 years ago in an antique shop. I’m not really sure how old it is, the checkering on top and cupping in the wood look like signs of age. The hardware I really can’t tell but it seems 1920’s to me but I don’t know if it’s original to the cabinet?

it stands roughly 51”H x 31.5”W x 18.5”D,the door hinges are wood pins

I think it was newish when they bought it. As hard as it is to believe ,60 years ago was 1964 .

 

Very attractive looking cabinet. Difficult to think it’s even 60 years old. So more or less a 60 year old reproduction? Other more knowledgeable members will know better.

Without the backstory information I would have guessed much newer.

It’s somewhere around the same production as this smaller version going by the hardware.



I was 7 or 8 at the time, 71 - 8 = 63, so at least that and it wasn’t new, but a couple years banging around the warehouse of a Cost Plus could do a number on it im sure. Is Cost Plus around any more?
