Sake Tray?

Bought this tray today.

Found this one online

saying it's a mid-century sake tray. Is that correct?
Would mine have a different purpouse, as it doesn't have the same type of handles?

 

Where does it say it is a sake tray? Those don't look like sake cups.

 

I'd think it's a tea tray, not a sake tray. That style of metal work was very popular at one time. I have a small tray that I used on my bureau to hold a pin dish, a picture frame and a trinket box with similar designs.

Any idea how old this is? The site with the "sake set" says mid 20th century and 30s/50s
