Any One Know Anything About This?

    I picked this up at an estate auction just because I liked it. I was curious about its origins, but couldn’t find any marks on it. It seems to be mostly made of leather, or sheep’s skin. Has anyone seen one like this before?

    It’s 18” x 5” and 6” tall. I have more pictures, but they were too big to upload and I can’t find how to compress them.

    Appears to be late-20th century decorative box. Similars came from China, India,... Giveaway (to my eye) is the stitching across front. What does inside look like?

    Should I clean it, or do anything to preserve it? I’d be scared to do anything too much for fear of rubbing off the paint.
