I found this yesterday at my local thrift store. But when I asked my friend who is the manager how much he wanted, he said $50 !

Neither one of us could make out the name, so he agreed to keep it in his office until I could ask the miracle workers here!

So, my friends, can anyone tell who the artist was of this painting?

    Thank you!

Have no idea regarding the signature. But that looks like amateur work (in my very limited art knowledge) $50 seems way too much (again just my opinion) also don’t think it’s antique, but maybe borderline vintage.

For the siggy I read S. Schwab. The frame looks 1960s to me, the painting could be 60s as well.

Alpine paintings are a dime a dozen, but this one is not as glossy and touristy as most, which is good. The summery look is also attractive.
It needs to be cleaned though. The extra cost is something buyers will take into account.

I'd call this one a professional 'tourist painting'-ie: expertly (& quickly) rendered. Not particularly inspired but a sure hand-Marote's is also a tourist piece, but more powerful.
It's good, but there's a fair number of well-rendered stuff on Ebay for under a few hundred bucks.

    Agree. Pleasing but decorative.
