Bought this vase Saturday. Marked WMF, 17 cm (base 7.5 cm)
Still some polishing to do, but it already looks much better than when I bought it. The inside was completely black.

    There are no additional marks
    Mark mentioned here https://www.silvercollection.it/ASCASWMFHOLLOWWAREMARKS.html
"Finally, the same 2D combination of three letters, "W"", "M", and "F", but placed in an "empty" arch, was used in 1935-1945."
    and
"The next WMF mark contains the famous 2D combination of three letters, "W", "M", and "F", placed in an empty arch. The size of the arch varies between 1.7 mm x 2.5 mm and 2.2 mm x 3.3 mm. No secondary markings were mentioned for this mark. Rather rare."

Found one online that seems to be identical, but that one had the mark on the center of the base and was marked as silverplated. I looked under the felt to see if there were any additional marks there, but the WMF mark really seems to be the only one on the vase.

So, is this indeed the 1935-1945 mark? Is it likely to be silverplated, even when there's no mark indicating this? And is there a specific name for this type of vase?

'Epergne' is a word that comes to mind.

Don't epergne vases sit in or hang from a (metal) holder? This vase can stand on its own.

Based on the description of similar vases, this would be a
Art Deco Modernist Silver Plated Ruffled Flared Trumpet Vase :)

    Mark on the smaller vase
    image11.jpeg
Same as on the previous vase, so again 1935-1945.

And the marks on the larger vase:
    image10.jpeg
    The 1st 3 were used from 1935-1965
But I didn't find any info on when they made items for the British War Department

Here are 2 identical vases, with the same marks

Unfortunately mine is a bit dented :(

    Speaking of WMF....
I also bought a birthday spoon like this one

Etsy seller says it's from the 1970s. Is that info correct?

Didn't find any info with the patent no.
