Introducing myself, Skans...

My mother was an avid antique collector and also a dealer who had a brick and mortar store for many decades. After her passing, I inherited a number of her collections. While Mom tried to teach me all that she knew about her collections through out the years, I only picked up on about 30% of the information she tried to pass along. So, now I am on a bit of a quest to fill in some of my knowledge gaps.

I tend to know a fair bit about Japanese Cloisonne (1800's - 1950) and the various styles/artisans. Not quite as much about antique Chinese Cloisonne (pre-1900's). I generally prefer Japanese Cloisonne, particularly from the "golden age". I have even added to my Mom's collection over the years, hopefully enhancing it a bit. I can certainly appreciate some of the really nice older pieces of Chinese Cloisonne as well, and have a few examples. However, it is much more difficult to find really fine examples of 150-300+ year old Chinese Cloisonne that I can afford.

Would be interested in hearing from others who are knowledgeable in this area!

Well, that was easy! PS - sorry for the misspelling of "Bowl" in the photo title - it seems to carry through when I re-post the photos.

 

Nice piece, Skans. It is Republic of China Era imo, so 1912-1949.
The central animal looks like a qilin, one of many mythical animals, just like the dragons around the edge. Four dragons could stand for the four directions, but I am not 100% certain.
