Featured Basket 5

Some more searching discovered this basket tucked away on an upper shelf. The style reminded me vaguely of Middle Eastern baskets. Google says these are Djibouti East Africa baskets. Since my parents lived in Djibouti for a number of years, this makes perfect sense.

It is in the same style as basket 4 posted previously (Sorry, I can't figure out how to attach photos to a response.)

Thanks. As I've said, they lived there and bought many things to use daily. They also traveled and bought things in tiny villages and local merchants, and it's hard to winnow out the good stuff.

I found 15 baskets stuffed in a large storage bag just a couple of days ago. I'm sure there are more squirreled away in many places.

This one is probably another one from Uganda - a type called an "endiro/endiiro/ndiro", used to serve a bread made from millet. (Also simply called a millet basket.)
